New Languages Festival @ McCarren Hall, Williamsburg September 17-26

Something special is coming up in New York that I’m really excited about – 5th Annual New Languages Festival. This program seems to be put together with the best taste. And it’s in my neighborhood! They have Tyshawn Sorey, Tim Berne, Bill McHenry, John Hollenbeck, Theo Bleckmann, Tommy Crane, Dan Weiss, Oscar Noriega, Ted Poor, Craig Taborn, Jacob Sacks, Eivind Opsvik, Brandon Ross, Thomas Morgan, Andrew D’Angelo, Ben Street and so much more… I’m definitely going!

Went to visit a friend in Park Slope and ended up going to the Tea Lounge. What a great surprise – John Escreet (keys) and Donny McCaslin (tenor) were playing with Joel Harrison (guitar). Jerome Harris on bass, Ziv Ravitz on drums – sounded great. John Escreet played the piano solo of the month, I would say 😀 😀
