Joe Albano (woodwinds, compositions), Steve Ruel (saxophones), Aki Ishiguro (guitar), Nick Jozwiak (bass), Dave Cole (drums). Sounded loud, electric and adventurous, quite complicated modern stuff I guess one needs to have spent some time in New York to really enjoy it – I did, actually. A couple of months ago, maybe I wouldn’t have, though. Was very interesting. But, oh my God, THE HEAT… Now I want to go back to the Stone (lots of reasons for it this month – Tyshawn Sorey is curating it in August), but I’m really scared of the heat. Seems like they turn on their AC very reluctantly – but I suspect they actually do have one… Anyway, the heat was unreal.
