Wearing Whitman’s Words Opening Reception @ Lucky Gallery, Red Hook

What a great idea – to design T-shirts with Walt Whitman’s quotes, selections from Leaves of Grass. Exhibition presenting designs  by Friends of Type, Jennifer Heuer, Jessica Hische, Justin Thomas Kay, Pablo A. Medina, Ed Nacional, Meg Paradise, Pillow Fort, and Travis Simon.  Lucky Gallery has a great vibe and the people running it seemed really cool as well. Had a great time meeting them and drinking their Trader Joe’s merlot Besides wine and food, the people attending the opening could all pick themselves a T-shirt – I got the one designed by  Travis Simon, saying  And henceforth I will go celebrate anything I see or am, And sing and laugh, and deny nothing. Apparently Walt Whitman really was the original Brooklyn hipster.
